What are your middle names?
My middle name is Marilyn and Fred’s is Thomas. Mine is after my grandmother’s first name, and Fred shares middle names with his grandfather.
How long have you been together?
We have been together for 11 ½ years and married for 10 ½.
How long did you know each other before you started dating?
We met on a Friday night, talked on the phone for a few hours on Sunday, and on Wednesday we went out on our first date. Less than a week?
Who asked whom out?
It was all him…kinda. We met at a club called…wait for it…Live Bait…I have nothing to say about the name. He was dancing with someone I knew from high school when my best friend pulled him over and shouted, “You should dance with her!” He was holding a beer bottle and as he was dancing, the bottle tipped over and spilled all over my leg. Like any gentleman, he graciously started swiping at an area near my upper thigh as I kept saying, “Dude, you spilled beer on my leg, not my panties!” I swear all he heard was panties!!! I figured that since we had made it to third base already that I should probably find out his name, so I asked him. When he told me, I said, “Ned?” He repeated his name, and again I said, “Ted?” Finally, he slowly yelled, “FRED” right into my ear. I thought that surely there is no-one under the age of 55 named Fred, so I said, “like F-R-E-D?” He said, “Well, how else would you spell it?” I fell for his sarcasm immediately…and when he asked me for my number, I actually gave him my real one…and not the time lady!!!
How old are each of you?
Fred is 32, and I am 36.
Whose siblings do you see the most?
Fred’s.
Which situation is the hardest on you as a couple?
I think it’s just having the patience to work on it all and not have it all solved or figured out today…this minute. We have the next 70+ years to annoy each other; why not spread it out some…
Did you go to the same school?
No. Fred earned a degree from DeVry. I earned an MBA from CSUDH.
Are you from the same home town?
No. Fred grew up on the Westside of Phoenix; I grew up on the beaches of
Who is smarter?
I think I am book/pop-culture smarter, but Fred is much more diligent. Knowledge and all that thinkin’ stuff comes pretty easily to me, and I take almost all of it for granted. Fred, though, can learn something (like how to build a vintage ’53 rigid Panhead) just by doing it…whereas I am a slow learner when it comes to things that involve more than just my wit and smarts.
Who is the most sensitive?
Me…but it’s because he keeps score…
Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple?
Who has the craziest exes?
I don’t know about craziest, but I am going to claim that I have more seeing as I have a few years on him…that’s all I will ‘fess up to…
Who has the worst temper?
Fred – he keeps score. Period.
Who does the cooking?
I do. Fred can only cook two things – spaghetti and burritos. In the burrito category, I am also including the requisite cheese-crisp that he makes me when he cooks burritos – I just can’t call leftovers mixed with refried beans and rolled into a flour tortilla a burrito. It is just too gross for me…so a tortilla with salsa and cheese pan seared is the best I ask from my husband. Trust me, I am a great cook…thank goodness…
Who is the neat-freak?
Fred is a great straighten-upper…I am handy with the cleaning solutions and cleaning apparatus…we really make a great “President’s Coming”* team!
Who is more stubborn?
I am oldest-child stubborn, he is youngest-child stubborn. Understand now why we only have one child? We are a melee of stubbornness.
Who hogs the bed?
Me – I just like space. His 6’3” frame clearly does not need as much room as my 5’4” self.
Who wakes up earlier?
Fred. He gets up to work out. I don’t have the words to discuss this. I married a man that cuts short his sleep to exercise…I know; trust me, I know…
Where was your first date?
Cheesecake Factory in
Who is more jealous?
Seriously, we are both really mellow about this…it’s one of the things we have finished working on…we’re in it for us, not for the folks that happen to find one of us to be super-hot!
How long did it take to get serious?
A week and a half. We just really liked each other.
Who eats more?
Fred. He works out.
Who does the laundry?
After the incident in which the man washed all of my black clothes with powdered detergent and left said detergent on my black clothes and I had to wear a few of those items to the one year memorial of my grandfather’s death, I do my own laundry, and he does his.
Who's better with the computer?
I am…but I am also the one that downloaded a Trojan Virus from the devil, LimeWire.
Who drives when you are together?
If we have to be somewhere quickly, he drives; otherwise, I try to drive as I am horribly prone to car-sickness. It may just be his driving, though…
