January 27, 2011

It was a Thursday night. I was invited to a women's bible study group. We wrote ourselves a letter that was going to be mailed back to us in six months. I just got my letter in the mail today. Thank you Jesus, but I am not that January woman anymore.
On January 27th, 2011, I wrote

Dear Diana,
Today, you
-created your trial separation document
-realized that Destiny was 27 when she died on the 27th of Dec. She will never have her golden birthday.
-tried again to get that man to see things your way - it's not working.
-thought seriously about buying a bungalow downtown.

Today, you explained your tattoo using [Nehemiah] 9:19. Today, you are kinda hoping that that man will go to the marriage conference. Kinda. In six months, I hope you aren't in this same place. I hope that there is some form of resolution. I hope that you have peace.

Keep going to ZUMBA. Keep going to church. God can provide. Remember that. Keep calling your friends. Keep loving yourself. Keep your faith. It's all good. This is the day!

Today, I'd have to write back
Dear Diana,
You did it. You moved on. You have peace. You are no longer held back by a man that could never/would never appreciate you. You are more than the awful adjectives that man used to describe you. You have an entire life ahead of you. There are no regrets only lessons learned. And so much fun to be had.

You are close to and loved by the most amazing women: your sister, your cousin, and your daughter. You have the most amazing friends. You are a god-mother to an amazing boy. You did all of this. Without that man.

Every single day, you are blessed. Every single day, you pray to stay on the right path. Every single day, you laugh. A lot.

[love] Diana
